Santa's Dilemma

Dear Cloud Builder Blogger,

Having spent the better part of the last few months reviewing stacks of written procedures and protocol, I was delighted to be introduced to your blog. In light of my current angst, please let me share some thoughts and ideas regarding our Business System issues here at the North Pole.

Looking back, it all started when some of the taller, upper management elves took it upon themselves to bring in consultant after consultant who pointed out all sorts of problems we didn’t know we had. In came the hardware and software and methodology and charts and graphs and Google analytics and all sorts of CRM. You name it, we added it to the mix. Every year we added more and more complexity. In the first few years it was great… we were rockin! Now, I’m not so sure.

It feels like we have too much focus on our systems and less focus on our mission. Despite the world’s economic issues, we serve a growing market and last year we missed a significant number of good girls and boys. It was heart breaking. Our bottom line is to make sure all the good girls and boys receive a special Christmas gift. Anything less is complete failure.

So, back to my angst. In light of my current feelings I’ve decided to make a significant change. I thought back to the early days and remembered how we did things. We cared so much … that we did the right things, at the right time to serve all of the deserving children in the world. Nothing more, and never anything less. It was just so simple and right it was like magic. It was Caring and Magic. So, that’s what we will do this year…we will use caring and magic to get back on track. I’m thinking that maybe caring and magic is just what the world needs this Christmas.

Merry Christmas!
